Our Story

Atieno Studio is a contemporary Kenyan fashion house founded by Bettydora Atieno Odhiambo, rooted in craftsmanship, cultural memory, and refined design. It is built on a commitment to creating pieces that are enduring, expressive, and intentionally made.

Crochet is approached as both material and language, carrying histories of women, of making, and of knowledge passed through generations. These foundations are reinterpreted through a design lens that is bold, feminine, and distinctly modern.

The aesthetic draws from the vibrancy and rhythm of Kenya expressed through color, texture, and form. Early influences remain embedded in the work, translated into pieces that feel current and directional. Each design exists in dialogue between past and present.

Atieno works closely with skilled women artisans, employing time-intensive techniques using natural East African fibres to create garments and accessories defined by structure, detail, and individuality. Produced in limited quantities, each piece retains its integrity and presence.

Positioned at the intersection of culture and modernity, Atieno reimagines familiar forms into elevated silhouettes designed for a global audience. The result is a body of work that is grounded in identity while remaining forward-looking.

Atieno expands the possibilities of crochet, placing it within the language of contemporary fashion.
